UNDERSTANDING WHY YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO ENTER INTO A LIFE CHANGING RECOVERY

You have chosen to enter into recovery for many  different reasons. There is never just one reason. But there is always that one major event where you decide that enough is enough. For example, I quit my heavy drinking because depression and high anxiety had set in after alcoholism was chiefly responsible for my financial collapse. Sure I also quit because of the toll it was taking on my family and social relationships. But it was the financial collapse that broke the camels back. There are many people who stop because of a horrific event like a car accident or starting their house on fire while drunk. As a practicing addict you may have many periods throughout the day and week where you get motivations to cut down or completely quit using. These feelings will vary according to mood swings, up and down feelings and other events you will encounter on a daily basis. The important thing to look for is to try to quit during these periods of swing. You must strike while the iron is hot. Most times the addict will have to experience a low point in their life in order to make a change and enter into recovery. But a main reason beneath all reasons should be to get clean to end your suffering and the suffering your family is going through. There are many good reasons to quit your addiction and once you are in recovery you will feel all the joys of leading an addiction free life.
